The Week Ahead: U.S. Senate marks up NDAA plus an all-you-can-eat buffet of space policy lunches

Monday:

Monday-Friday:

  • Prague, Czech Republic: The European Space Agency hosts the Living Planet Symposium, the world’s largest conference on Earth observation.

Tuesday:

  • Washington: Orbital ATK president and chief executive David W. Thompson speaks at a Washington Space Business Roundtable luncheon.
  • Washington: The Space Transportation Association holds a roundtable discussion on NASA’s Space Launch System, Orion and Ground Systems Development and Operations program on Capitol Hill.
  • Washington: The Secure World Foundation hosts a panel discussion on “Challenges and Opportunities Facing New Space Actors” featuring participants from companies and organizations at 12 p.m. Eastern.
  • Teleconference: NASA holds a media briefing by phone to discuss the latest discoveries made by NASA’s Kepler spacecraft.
  • Washington: The Senate Armed Services┬ástrategic forces subcommittee marks up its portion of a National Defense Authorization Act at 5:30 p.m. Eastern. The markup will be closed.

Tuesday-Wednesday:

  • Luxembourg: The Space Forum space commerce conference includes sessions on topics ranging from global connectivity to asteroid mining.

Wednesday:

Wednesday-Friday:

  • Washington: The full Senate Armed Services Committee marks up the National Defense Authorization Act. The markup will be closed.

Thursday:

  • Huntsville, Ala.: NASA’s Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel will hold a quarterly meeting at the Marshall Space Flight Center at 11:30 a.m. Eastern.

Saturday:

  • The Plains, Va.: The Team America Rocketry Challenge, a student launch competition organized by the Aerospace Industries Association, takes place at Great Meadow.
